  2. Allen Ginsberg was born June 03, 1926 and died on April 05, 1997. • Allen Ginsberg was born in Newark, New Jersey, and eventually became one of the founding fathers of the Beat generation

  3. Early life • He had grown up in the city of Paterson, New Jersey • His mother, Naomi, had emigrated from Russia to the states. • His father was a poet and a teacher.

  4. Ginsberg, in his pre-teen years, had kept a journal and filled it with poetry of Walt Whitman. • He went on to attend Columbia university.

  5. Some of his work • Howl was an eye-opening work in its explorations of sexuality, anguish and social issues in non-traditional poetic form, relying on a freewheeling mix of influences.

Notable info • Allen Ginsberg is one of the 20th century's most influential poets, regarded as a founding father of the Beat Movement and known for works like "Howl.“ • Ginsberg won the 1974 National Book Award for his work  The Fall of America: Poems of these States 1965-1971 • Ginsberg later converted to Buddhism and founded the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics of the Naropa Institute

  7. He received accolades like the 1986 Robert Frost Medal. • In the 1980’s and '90s, he continued to write and worked with musical artists like Philip Glass, Bono, Sonic Youth and the Clash.

  8. Ginsberg died from liver cancer on April 5, 1997, in the East Village in Manhattan, New York. • He was 70 years old. A massive collection of his work can be found with the book Collected Poems 1947-1997.
