  2. Purpose • To provide Mequon’s elected officials with perceptions and opinions of residents regarding land use and development

  3. Methodology • Census of Mequon households • 8,648 surveys mailed to Mequon residents • Survey fielded from 4/17 to 5/24 • Received 3,943 completed surveys • 45.3% response rate

Economic development • Majorities of respondents support: • Providing redevelopment incentives • 55.5% support/22.6% oppose • Focus on redevelopment of property • 61.4% support/12.2% oppose • Supporters outnumber opponents when it comes to: • Providing financial assistance to existing Mequon businesses • 48.8% support/24.2% oppose • Providing financial assistance to help attract new businesses • 40.4% support/32.3% oppose

  18. Economic development • A majority of respondents oppose providing other incentives (besides TIF, Industrial revenue bonds, and state grant funds) to attract new businesses - 46.3% support/53.7% oppose • Support drops to 16.5% if a tax increase is involved
