Beatriz Armendariz- Member of Board of Directors, Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation Beatriz Armendariz is associated with Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation as Member of its Board of Directors. The mission of this foundation is to fight against the poverty by encouraging financial inclusion of most disadvantaged individuals and their access to essential goods. It promotes the development of local microfinance institutions and social businesses in developing nations.

    3. Research Fellow at Center For European Research In Microfinance (CERMi) Beatriz Armendariz also works as Research Fellow at the Center for European Research in Microfinance. CERMi focuses on promoting academic research to support key stakeholders in microfinance industry, including NGOs, donors, cooperatives and financial institutions. It also aims at developing suitable frameworks to examine existing microfinance practices.

Lecturer at Harvard University Beatriz Armendariz is also a lecturer at Harvard University- an American private Ivy League research University that was founded in 1636 by the Massachusetts legislature. Known as the oldest institution of higher learning in the U.S., Harvard University comprises 11 separate academic units including 10 faculties and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, with campuses located throughout the Boston metropolitan area.

Thereafter, she attended EHESS, Paris and completed her Ph. D in Economics, with Dissertation on the topic of Foreign Debt Negotiations: An Historical and Theoretical Analysis.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnolgico Autnomo de Mexico (ITAM), Mexico. She later joined the University of Cambridge, UK, and thereby completed her M. Phil in Economics in 1986. Besides, she also holds a doctorate in Economics from EHESS, Paris, France, with Dissertation on Foreign Debt Negotiations: An Historical and Theoretical Analysis.

    7. Academic background Beatriz Armendariz attended ITAM, Mexico to pursue her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics (1984) and thereafter enrolled at the University of Cambridge, UK (1986) to complete her M. Phil in Economics. She also holds Ph.D in Economics from EHESS, Paris, France, with Dissertation on Foreign Debt Negotiations: An Historical and Theoretical Analysis.

    8. Professional Experience Throughout her career, Beatriz Armendariz has held several prominent positions at different educational institutes. She served as Teaching Assistant at ITAM; as Research Officer at INEGI (Mexico); as Visiting Scholar in Economics Department of MIT, Cambridge; as Lecturer in Economics at London School of Economics; as Visiting Professor at Toulouse School of Economics (France); and as Lecturer in Economics at University College London, UK.

    9. Publications Beatriz Armendariz co-authored The Economics of Microfinance, First Edition (2005), and Second Edition (2010), with Jonathan Morduch. Her forthcoming books are The Handbook of Microfinance, with Marc Labie, and The Economics of Contemporary Latin American Economy, with Felipe Larrain.

    10. Currently, Beatriz Armendariz is working on various field projects, most notably on Environmentally-friendly Rural Farming in Burundi, with Ephrem Niyongabo of Universitede Mons, Belgium. Some publications by Beatriz Armendariz are Gender Empowerment in Microfinance, joint with Nigel Roome; Peer Group Formation in an Adverse Selection Model, with Christian Gollier, The Economic Journal; Microfinance Beyond Group Lending, with Jonathan Morduch, The Economics of Transition; and more.
