  2. What should I bring to the exam? • Pens (Blue & Black) • Pencils with erasers • Compass • Straightedge • Graphing Calculator • Zip-Lock bag for your supplies

  3. Test Format THERE ARE 38 QUESTIONS. REMEMBER: YOU MUST ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS! PART I = 28 MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS @ 2 PTS EACH Total = 56 pts. PART II = 6 OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS @ 2 PTS EACH Total = 12 pts. PART III = 3 OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS @ 4 PTS EACH Total = 12 pts. PART IV = 1 OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS @ 6PTS Total = 6 pts. TOTAL POINTS = 86

  4. Part II, III, & IV Tips • If you use trial and error, be sure to show at least 3 separate trials for each possible answer, even if you guess correctly after one or two tries. • Constructions and graphs should be done in pencil. Everything else should be done in PEN. • DO NOT round any numbers until you reach the end of the questions.

  5. TIPS FOR SUCCESS • #1 – PROCESS OF ELIMINATION • For multiple choice questions, eliminate answers that do not make sense.

  6. TIPS FOR SUCCESS • Example of Process of Elimination: In the accompanying diagram of parallelogram ABCD, DE ≅ BF . E B C A F D Triangle EGC can be proved congruent to triangle FGA by (1) HL ≅ HL (3) AAS ≅ AAS (2) AAA ≅ AAA (4) SSA ≅ SSA

  7. TIPS FOR SUCCESS • #2 – DO NOT stay on a question for too long. • Save yourself frustration and move on to the next question. • You may find by doing another question that something “clicks” about the question you could not figure out.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS • #3 – Know your calculator AND your formula sheet. • Find the calculator you’ll be using for the exam NOW!!Do not borrow a friend’s at the last minute. • Your memory will be cleared before the exam. REMEMBER: Before you start the exam, put your calculator in degrees mode. • Be aware of what formulas you will be given and which ones you need to study.

  9. TIPS FOR SUCCESS • #4 – SHOW ALL WORK • “For all questions in this part, a correct numerical answer with no work shown will receive only 1 credit.” - - A portion of Part II, III, & IV directions -Erase or cross-out anything you do not want to be graded. -Circle your final answer.

  10. TIPS FOR SUCCESS • #5 – CONFIDENCE = SUCCESS • Be confident in your ability. If you put the work in before the exam you’ll do fine. • Do not get frustrated. Frustration leads to stress which will not help no matter how much studying you have done. • Do something relaxing before the exam.
