  1. DECIMALS A decimal number is a number with a decimal point in it, like these Definition:1. A linear array of digits that represents a real number, every decimal place indicating a multiple of a negative power of

  2. SQUARE ROOTS • TERM: Thesquare root of a number is a number which multiplied by itself, gives you the original number. • DEFINITON:A number that produces a specified quantity when multiplied by itself: "7 is a square root of 49".

  3. COORDINATE PLANE • TERM: Coordinate Plane is a plane formed by the intersection of a horizontal number line with a vertical number line. • A two-dimensional surface on which points are plotted and located by their x and y coordinates.

  4. PERCENT • Term:Apercent is the number of parts out of 100 of something. For example, a quarter (25 cents) is 25 percent of a dollar (100 cents). It is the numerator of a fraction whose denominator is 100. So, the fraction 25/100 is 25 percent, sometimes written as 25%. If you have a decimal number, like .72 and you want to convert it to a percent, you just multiply it by 100. So the decimal .72 becomes (100 X .72) = 72 percent. The following table shows you how to convert between fractions, decimals and percents. • DEFINITION: When you say "Percent" you are really saying "per 100

  5. KEY TERMS • DEFINITION: terms to help you work the problem out

  6. DIVISIBILITY RULES • DEFINITION:A divisibility rule is a shorthand way of discovering whether a given number is divisible by a fixed divisor without performing the division, usually by examining its digits.

  7. MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS • DEFINITION: multiplying the top number by the top number and the bottom number by the bottom number

  8. RATIO • Definition: A ratio shows the relative sizes of two or more values.

  9. INTEGERS • DEFINITION:A member of the set of positive whole numbers {1, 2, 3, . . . }, negative whole numbers {-1, -2, -3, . . . }, and zero {0}.

  10. SUBTRACTING INTEGERS • DEFINITION: if the signs are the different, subtract the numbers and take the sign of the larger number (-3 + 4 or 3 - 4 or 3 +(-4)

  11. PRECENT PREPORTION • DEFINITION:A part considered in relation to the whole.

  12. Circle graph • Shows parts of a whole

  13. Bar graph • A bar graph displays data with vertical o horizontal bars

  14. Line plots • Use a number line 3, x’s

  15. histogram • Shows the number of data a items that occur within each interval
