  1. Final Exam Problem Areas! OOPS! Make sure you take notes on these common errors!

  2. Second person= YOU • This is when you address the reader: • For MOST writing assignments, this is a big NO-NO! • Try to use terms such as “we” or “one” or simply avoid pronouns all together! Do not address the reader! Number 1: Second Person

  3. Your quotes are your SUPPORT of your thesis and should only be in the BODY PARAGRAPHS of your essay. • Do not include support (quotes) in your introduction. • If you would like to include a quote for your hook, then you need to explain its significance to your THESIS! Number 2: Quotes

  4. Always make sure to DIRECTLY ANSWER the PROMPT! • A good strategy is to use the language used in the prompt itself. For example: • Prompt: Discuss a major conflict Kek faces and how he overcomes that conflict. • YOUR ANSWER: A major conflict Kek faces is ________ and he overcomes that conflict by ________, ________, and ___________. Number 3: Answering the PROMPT

  5. Make sure you use SPECIFIC language and words in your writing. • For example, do not simply say that Kek and Ganwarare alike in many ways, but rather, say that they are alike because of this, that, and the other thing. • “many” is an extremely vague term! Number 4: BE SPECIFIC!
