  1. FIVE FIRE PROTECTION TIPS ON CONSTRUCTION SITES

  2. INTRODUCTION In construction sites there are many flammable objects which are required for the construction of the buildings. Also there are many areas which have high fire risk involved and therefore it is necessary to have a fire protection system to be installed on site to avoid fire accidents. The current post will give you some most important and vital tips about fire safety on construction sites.

  3. CARRY OUT A FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT In construction sites it is very much required to carry out a fire risk assessment in order to find out where are the areas where fire protection Ireland is required. The steps that can be followed to find out the risk are to identify the fire hazards, identify the people at risk, record your observation and schedule a plan for fire protection training. And also update the fire risk assessment regularly.

  4. REDUCE IGNITION SOURCES Once you are done with the fire risk assessment work and have made the observations. It is time to carry out the first step and this will be to identify the ignition sources and have to reduce the sources in order to ensure the safety of the people working in this areas. These sources include hot work which consists of work which can produce heat sparks and flames, smoking, plant and equipment, electric installations, Bonfire and Arson.

  5. REDUCE FUEL SOURCES While carrying out the fire risk assessment you have also identified the fuel sources. These sources include anything from timber, flammable liquids, scaffolding sheets and rubbish that we dispose every day. You need to ensure that the fuel sources are at safe distance from the ignition sources in order to prevent fire accidents on construction sites.

  6. BUILD FIRE PROTECTION IN BUILDING Building fire protection systems in the buildings as early as possible in the construction process will ensure fire safety in the site and also will also help to maintain the fire protection systems through out the construction period. Moreover having a fire protection system in the building under construction will provide safety for the workers who are working in high fire risk areas like in hot works or in fuel source areas.

  7. ELECTRICS SHOULD BE INSTALLED BY EXPERTS This is an important thing to observe in construction sites. Constructing a building also includes installing electric systems and here if you hire only experts or professionals to install this systems then you have properly managed to prevent fire accidents as hiring unskilled person for this work may increase the risk of fire accidents. So it is always better to look for experienced electricians for this work.
