  1. Man, Myth or Legend? Part 12 What will Jesus do on His return?

  2. Who has seen this?

  3. Or this? …

  4. Or this? …

  5. And this..? • When Jesus comes back He is going to use television and the internet to announce His arrival • What about “Left Behind”? • Or “A thief in the night”? • He’s going to be a modern version of what He was the first time

  6. What His Second Coming is not …. • 21 May 2011 • Not going to follow some man-made timeline chart • We won’t find out on TV or WWW • He will not appear as one of the Glitterati • Will not come on chat shows • He will not come to fight Mike Tyson • He won’t set up a blog • Will not set up His kingdom in the mid-west of the USA

  7. Need to get our Eschatology right.. Acts 1:7 7 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority

  8. Luke 17:20-30 20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you." 22 Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 And they will say to you, 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Do not go after them or follow them. 24 For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.

  9. 25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

  10. When Jesus Comes ….. • Jesus will come to rescue Israel • Defeat the Antichrist (Rev. 19:11-21) • Judge the nations (Matt. 25:31-46) and the wicked in Israel (Ezek. 20:33-38) • Rule over the Messianic kingdom (Matt. 19:28; Rev. 20:1-6)

  11. Rescues Jerusalem • Read Zechariah 1: 1-15 • The world is ganged up on Israel, and He comes and stands on the Mount of Olives

  12. Defeats the Antichrist • Who/what is the antichrist? • Political or religious figure • Government system • Computer system • Money system • Bible describes him as a man

  13. Judge Everyone Who Ever Lived • Conjures up very harsh images • People use that scripture “Judge not, lest you be judged” • Jesus is the only “altogether pure” who is worthy to judge • He also knows everything we’ve ever done John 4:29 Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

  14. Judge Everyone Who Ever Lived Rev 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works

  15. Judge Everyone Who Ever Lived • 94% of all Americans believe in God • 89% of Americans believe in Heaven • 73% believe in hell • 75% of those surveyed believed they would end up in Heaven • 2% thought they might go to hell – its reserved for Government officials, politicans and Zimra employees

  16. Judge Everyone Who Ever Lived John 14:6 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. • Some Americans are in for a big surprise • Some porn stars go to church

  17. Judge Everyone Who Ever Lived • Lambs book of life • Christians have their names written in it • Christians are judged differently to non-Christians • Rewarded for our works as Christians • Lake of Fire for non-Christians

  18. Hell • Some preachers and pastors do not believe in hell • Some think it is only for satan and his demons • Parable of sheep and goats • But, Jesus speaks of hell more than anyone in Scripture. • He speaks of it as a place of conscious eternal torment.

  19. Whose choice – Heaven or Hell? Rom 2:1-9 O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds": 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honour, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil,

  20. Whose choice – Heaven or Hell? • People ask how a loving God can send someone to hell • The loving God does not want to send anyone to hell • Our rejection of Christ is our choice of hell • He does not chose to send us, we chose to go there and God has given us a free will which He won’t violate

  21. Judgement for Christians • Judged and rewarded according to our works • Given regenerated, glorious bodies • Given a nice place to live

  22. Jesus will Rule of His Kingdom • Bible talks of a 1000 year rule in peace • We live here with our heavenly bodies • We live on Earth as though it were the Garden of Eden • He will bring “Shalom” - a place of perfect peace
