  2. What Is A Sonnet? • A sonnet is one of the poetic forms that can be found in lyric poetry. • Sonnet Poems originated from Europe.

  3. Continued • A sonnet means “a little song.” • Sonnets are usually long poems and one of the most famous sonnet writers was William Shakespeare.

  4. Organization of a Sonnet • A sonnet consists of 14 lines. • Each of the 14 lines have ten syllables. • Each line is written in iambic pentameter. • A iambic pentameter is a pattern of a non-emphasized syllable followed by an emphasized syllable is repeated five times.
