What are some elements of dystopia in “Harrison Bergeron”?

Topic Sentence: Some elements of dystopia in “Harrison Bergeron” are human misery and oppression.

Support 1: George and Harrison are being oppressed by the government through the handicaps they are required to wear at all times.

Elaboration 1: They are required to wear handicaps at all times in order to ensure that everyone is equal.

Support 2: Human misery can also be seen in this text because people have never experienced true freedom.

Elaboration 2: George has random sounds going off in his brain every twenty seconds, which never allows his mind to be free to truly think. He also has a forty pound bag of birdshot around his neck, which also keeps him from being physically free.

Concluding Sentence: In conclusion, although the government wants everyone to be equal, the way that they have reached this equality is by oppressing the people and making their lives miserable.
