Friendship • “…You are my friends… I call you friends…” (John.15:14,15) • A friend is “another self” … a sacrament of God’s love • Friends are called to mutual dialogue, exchange, sharing and self-giving • Authentic Christian friendship must “begin in Christ, continue in Christ and be perfected in Christ.” (Saint Aelred of Rievaulx)

Reciprocal Becoming in Life Crisis • In loneliness and solitude, with support and encouragement of others, Grace appearing • Inner landscape changes, not knowing exactly when, how why and where • New placement helps to being in place • There is life and love after widowhood, uncertain, but assured; human and sacred

Oceanic and Mountainous Joy • Associated with significant encounters with strangers and friends, aesthetics and nature • Simple pleasure in the sight of mountains, rocks, pebbles, the sound of flowing water, the sunshine, the phases of the moon, flowers, desert, even bare beaches… • Love is awaken in the soul, a sense of great affinity and proximity to God, self and others
