  1. “You and Me” Performed by Lifehouse Words and Music: Jason Wade and Jude Cole Pop Ups by Lauri McIntosh(On-Level class version with 4 pop-ups)

  2. “You and Me” What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive. I can't keep up, and I can't back down. I've been losing so much time. ‘Cause it's you and me and all of the people With nothing to do, nothing to lose. And it's you and me and all of the people, And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you. All of the things that I want to say Just aren't coming out right. I'm tripping on words, you got my head spinning. I don't know where to go from here. ‘Cause it's you and me and all of the people With nothing to do, nothing to prove. And it's you and me and all of the people, And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you. Something about you now I can't quite figure out. Everything she does is beautiful; Everything she does is right. ‘Cause it's you and me and all of the people With nothing to do, nothing to lose. And it's you and me and all of the people. And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of… You and me and all of the people With nothing to do and nothing to prove. And it's you and me and all of the people. And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you. What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive. (“Lifehouse Lyrics: You and Me Lyrics.”)

  3. What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive. I can't keep up, and I can't back down. I've been losing so much time. Personificationis used in “This clock never seemed so alive” as if the clock has a mind of its own. The “living” clock adds to the narrator’s disorientation and out-of-control feeling; he can’t understand how the months, days, and hours can pass so quickly.

  4. All of the things that I want to say Just aren't coming out right. I'm tripping on words, you got my head spinning. I don't know where to go from here. Imagery: “Tripping on words” shows how words can be so difficult to handle that they can be tripped on with the tongue, as many of us discover when we stutter or mispronounce common words when nervous—or even say words we never meant to use. In this song, the imagery gives a clear picture of a young man so nervous when speaking to the girl he loves that hecan’t say what he really means.

  5. Timeis defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as: “a : the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues : duration.b : a nonspatial continuum that is measured in terms of events which succeed one another from past through present to future.” Is time based on the laws of physics, or is it purely in the mind of conscious beings? “Largely because of Albert Einstein, it is now held that time cannot be treated in isolation from space.” (“Time”) If time is based on the physical world, is time travel possible? As described by physicist Stephen Hawking, “A wormhole is a theoretical ‘tunnel’ or shortcut, predicted by Einstein's theory of relativity, that links two places in space-time [shown in the diagram at right]. (Hawking)

  6. “You and Me” songwriterJason Wade founded Lifehouse with drummer Ricky Woolstenhulme, Jr. after they met in Los Angeles in the late 1990’s. “Lifehouse released its smash debut [album], No Name Face,in 2000, which launched them to global stardom. Their breakout single ‘Hanging by a Moment’ was the single most-played radio track of 2001.” Lifehouse has sold more than five million albums plus more than three million singles online, including number-one hits “You and Me” and their first single, “Hanging By a Moment.” (Lifehouse)
