  4. OCTOBER/NOVEMBER Parents’ Information evening Assembly for students Vacancies on school website. PSHE lessons introduce Veryan site and Work Experience (WEX) process to students. The Process

  5. The School website will contain a section for Year 10 Work Experience You can view or download letters, forms and PowerPoint presentations A list of possible placements will be available to view in an Excel format. Placements

  9. As soon as available students will also be able to access the Veryan site with Health and Safety information included. The Education Business Partnership (EBP), located in Ipswich, runs our Work Experience service. The school will still be responsible for deciding whether a placement is suitable and we will ensure that all placements have had the necessary checks. Placements

  10. Own choice forms are only for placements that are not already on the 2013 List of placements. Please check the list before completing a green Own Choice Form. Green Own Choice form to employer to complete. Own Choices form returned to Mr Clayton by 5th November. If not already on the school’s list, you will need to apply to the school for a Health & Safety inspection. OWN CHOICE

  12. Choose 3 placements and write the correct information in the boxes. Avoid placements which already have several other applicants. Only apply for a school or nursery place if you have a genuine interest in childcare. Do not apply for a place in a school you have attended as a pupil. Make sure you can travel to the placements you choose. Please ask your parents to complete the bottom of the form. CHOICES FORM: KEY POINTS

  13. Pupils may find placements in other parts of the country Health and Safety checks are still necessary Minimum 12 weeks notice needed for a London placement If a new inspection is needed there is a fee of £100 plus expenses FAR AWAY PLACEMENTS

All placements are assessed for suitability and graded into Low, Medium and High risk • Comprehensive checks are carried out on employers’ Health and Safety systems • Assurance is sought that students are not exposed to prohibited activities, materials and equipment • You will soon be able check the details on the Veryan site HEALTH AND SAFETY

  15. Employers will notify the parents (via the school) of any significant risk. Parents must acknowledge receipt of this information Placement providers must have at least £2 million of Public liability and £2 million Employer liability before they can take students HEALTH AND SAFETY

Student Health Details form with space for any medical details relevant to being at work • Deadline for return of signed Consent Form to Form tutor – week beginning 4th March • Pupils write application letter and CV in PSHE classes • Follow up with telephone call to arrangeinterview during Easter holidays FEBRUARY

  18. Interview during the holiday 29th MARCH – 12th APRIL Student must take Triplicate Form for employer to sign and bring all of it back Parent signs Triplicate Form Easter Holiday

  19. Triplicate Form signed by employer, parent and student to Form Tutor by Monday 22nd APRIL No Form No Work Experience! APRIL

  20. Monday 13th May– Friday 24th May STUDENT GOES TO WORK Parents support exhausted children AT LAST

  21. A member of staff will phone and most students will be visited at their placement Please notify employers if your child is going to be absent Contact us at school if there are any problems or worries DURING

  22. Monday 3rd June Return to school PSHE lessons used for Evaluation Employer Report forms collected Work Experience reports feed into pupil’s File. Employer Report to pupils and copy stored in school. FINALLY
