  2. Confucius • 1. Confucius was a philosopher • 2. He was born in 551 BC • 3. He is the founder of Confucianism which some consider a religion and some consider a form of moralities or both. • 4. He emphasized respect for your elders and kindness towards all humanity • 5. He also taught about ethics and morality

  3. Confucius • 1. Confucius was born into a warrior family. • 2.. His family was poor but well respected. • 3. Kong Qiu is Confucius’s real name. • 4. Confucius’s father died when Confucius was young so he was brought up by his mother. • 5. Confucius traveled all around China and did not return home until he was sixty eight.

  4. Why is Confucius Respected? • Confucius defined how to run the government and live your life back in ancient China. He is considered one of the greatest philosophers of all time.

  5. Teachings • 1. Confucius taught extensively about ethics and behavior. • 2. He also taught about the afterlife. • 3. Life is all about doing things for the greater good. • 4. Confucius taught how to run the government. • Confucius also taught about respect and love towards other human beings.

  6. Temples • 1. The tomb of Confucius is in Kong Lin cemetery. • 2. Qufu is Confucius’s hometown and a place to worship him. • 3. The Taiwan Confucius temple is another place of worship. This shows that his teachings are spread wide a far. • 4. Confucius and Buddha temples are often found together. • 5. His biggest temple is in his hometown.
