  4. Sites to see • Alaska Native Heritage Center. • Anchorage Museum of History and art, Iditarod head quarters. • Alaska Sea life Center. • Nation Line Park, and Wendy Mississippi line are sites to see in Alaska.

  5. Lay of the land • Major rivers, Yukon river, Kuskwdustryim river, Colville river, and copper river. • Major industry – oil. • The Iditarod is held there. • Permafrost is ground that is permanently frozen.

  6. Tourism • Tourism brought 1.5 billion dollars into this state in 2003,that was 5% of Alaska’s gross state product .In 2003 Alaska saw more than 1.4 million tourist most coming as passengers on cruise ships and glacier bay national monument.

  7. Weather • Cool days, icy , not cold all the time , high for summer 72 degrees F. blizzard watch effect and gale warnings are likely to happen in Alaska.

  8. History Of The State • In 1861 gold was discovered. • The history Alaska dates back to the Upper Paleolithic. • There was slavery in Alaska. • At the time of European contact by the Russian explorers , the area was populated by Alaska Native groups.

Interesting Facts • Alaska state bridge is willow ptarmigan. • The state fish is King salmon. • The state land mammal is a moose. • The state mineral is gold ,state gem is Jade , state soil is Estelle. • The Lagregs City is Anchorage. • State marine mammal is Bowhead Whale. • The State Fossil is the woolly mammoth. • The State sport is Dog Mushing.
