The Problem of Unintentional Injury Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death for people ages 1 through 44 in North Dakota. One of every five US children will need medical attention for an unintentional injury this year. Most injuries are preventable. 2

The Solution Nationwide, there are over 600 local Safe Kids coalitions and chapters that bring together health and safety experts to educate and protect families. 3

What we do: Safe Kids works to prevent unintentional death and injury to children ages 14 and under. We empower families and communities to: • Educate adults and children • Create safe environments • Collect data • Advocate for effective laws 5
