  1. Network Model & State Estimator Readiness For Application in Texas Nodal F. John Meyer December 4, 2003 ERCOT TAC Meeting Presentation

  2. Background Texas Nodal conceptualization has assumed: The availability of a detailed network model (NM); A fully tested state-estimator (SE) Foundation of Texas Nodal market design The Texas Nodal Team requests the Reliability Operations Subcommittee (ROS) evaluate the readiness of ERCOT NM/SE for commencement of Texas Nodal operations

  3. NM/SE ReadinessTNT proposes that ROS Identify/Evaluate: Criteria for testing and proving NM/SE ready Network Observability; Telecom & Computer System Reliability Convergence Rate; Solution Speed; Mismatch Tolerance; and Other criteria deemed necessary Programs for testing NM/SE-related system interfaces, functions and applications as ready Procedures for on-going maintenance, update and improvement of NM/SE database, applications and functions

  4. NM/SE ReadinessTNT proposes that ROS Identify/Evaluate: Procedures to update NM without interrupting the 5-minute calculation of LMPs Procedures and functions to make NM available to market participants; including NM updates Operational contingency procedures addressing SE non-convergence, functional failures and system or telecommunication failures; and related notices to market participants

  5. NM/SE ReadinessBetween Now and Texas Nodal Market Implementation, TNT Requests ROS: Identify, for TAC, the assistance ROS requires from other TAC subcommittees and task forces, if any, to achieve the Texas Nodal readiness timeline Periodically report to TAC on NM/SE readiness Make any other reports or recommendations to TAC that ROS believes necessary for the reliable operation of the grid under the Texas Nodal design
