  1. Judgment Day!

  2. There’s A Great Day Coming • We sing the song to remind ourselves that one day the Lord will judge the entire world. • It is the day when the earth will come to an end along with everything in it. • There are many questions asked about the final judgment. • Some see it as a fearful day. • Even some Christians are concerned about that day. • What does the Bible say to convict us and to encourage us about Judgment Day?

  3. Matthew 10:15 -- I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. Assurance of the Day

  4. Matthew 11:22 • But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.

  5. Peter Speaks of the Day • 2 Peter 2:9 • “…if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.”

  6. John Speaks of the Day • 1 John 4:17 • In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.

  7. Paul Speaks of the Day • Acts 17:31 -- For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."

  8. What Type of Judgment? • We must NOT think of it as a day for a trial to take place. • This is a day for sentence to be delivered: 2 Corinthians 5:10 -- For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

  9. Sealed When We Die • Our judgment is complete when we die. Luke 16:22-23 -- Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.

  10. John 3:18 • “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.”

  11. Important Considerations • Christ will be the Judge: • John 5:22, 27 -- Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son…. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. • 2 Corinthians 5:10 – it is the judgment seat of Christ.

  12. Several Groups Judged • Angels (Demons) will be judged Jude 6 -- And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.

  13. The Wicked Will Be Judged Revelation 20:12-13 -- And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.

  14. Christians Will Be Judged: Romans 14:10 -- You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.

  15. What Will Be Judged? • Every word and deed • Matthew 12:36-37 -- But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

  16. Our Thoughts and Motives 1 Corinthians 4:5 -- Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

  17. Our Deepest Secrets Romans 2:16-- This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

  18. And Then…The End! 2 Peter 3:7, 10-11 -- By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men…But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be?”

  19. Rewards and Punishments 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 -- …This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.”

  20. Are you ready? • We do not know when that day will come. • Only the good will be rewarded on that final day. • Those not obedient to the Lord have no hope for eternity. • Are you ready?
