  1. Intro • Steve is one of the most iconic photographers • He took an outstanding photo for the cover of a national geographic magazine in 1985 • He often takes portraits of people and pictures of cultural events • His style is mainly is focused on the person as well as giving an ambience of the environment that they are in though the back round and expression

  2. Basic Info • His full name is “Steve McCurry” • He was born April 23rd 1950 • He is alive still to this day • He grew up in Philadelphia he also spent several months in Stockholm Amsterdam • He went to the Pennsylvania State University • He got into photography because he liked the idea of capturing the moment at the Penn State University

  3. Photographic Practices Typically Steve McCurry uses a silver gelatin print typically Steve typically uses a blurred powerful background with the main focus being a human The purpose of his photographs to me is to capture the very certain moment in time giving a glimpse to a side of the world as well as other cultures One of his major contributions has been to national geographic. On front page of an article/book It seems like he likes to help inform the world of its flaws to help and try to improve them

  4. Steve McCurry 1 • This is one of Steve McCurry's most famous photos. It was the cover of a national geographic book. This photo shows a person wrapped in some sort of clothing. The picture itself shows to me a child that has really toughened up and that is use to fight for herself.

  5. Steve McCurry 2 • This image captures the moment of an Indian festival. This festival was the Holi festival. It shows the joy and happiness of the people there and how much fun they are having. It also gives insight to the culture and the kind of festivities they do.

  6. Steve McCurry 3 • This photo shows two kids hiding under what seems to be a bowl of some sort that looks to be made by hand. This captures the living conditions they are in and shows that they have to make do with what they have.

  7. Steve McCurry 4 • This photo show a picture of a little girl beside a wooden beam. It captures what type of environment she lives in. It shows brown walls and fabric hanging down from the walls. This picture is different from the others because it focuses on the subject as well as the back drop showing little details.

  8. Steve McCurry 5 • This photo shows two women which seem to be in a tribe or group. They have some tribal markings and some white paint on them as well as a headdress. They are in a forest. It paints a picture how advanced they are in their society.

  9. Why Steve McCurry • I chose Steve not because of the style but because of the meaning to the photos. When he takes a picture he makes sure that he really captures the moment and he also informs people about living conditions, problems and culture.
