  1. Blog: Bisonlife.com Importance of Ensuring Food Safety at Commercial Outlets Food is something that you cannot do without. Well, that is an understatement for you do need the right amount of nutritive in order to stay healthy. However, simply stuffing whatever is put in front of you without thinking about the consequences can be pretty dangerous. Sure, you take care to wash your hands thoroughly and ensure that the utensils you have been using are squeaky clean but eating out can pose a problem especially if you are unaware about what goes on inside the kitchen at your favorite eatery joint. FDA regulations recommend wearing food handling gloves for the restaurants, take away joints and canteens. The restaurants and hotels, even the top ones, need to be concerned about hygiene within their kitchen and dining area so as to not end up with an outbreak of food poisoning. Such an eventuality is dreaded as it may cause the concerned business to be sued for improper practices and jeopardizing the lives of their customers. It is definitely a grave charge making it important for the chefs, servers and kitchen apprentices to don a good quality industrial apron while prepping and cooking food. While you, as a home cook, would be entitled to wear a cotton apron over your clothes when in the kitchen. The restaurants need to be more careful about sourcing protective clothing with long bib aprons being the most preferable. Sure, they can be bought in bulk and ordered with the name of the eatery embossed or embroidered on the top but the owner or manager of the concerned eatery must be overly conscious about its effectiveness. It might be best to shun the cloth aprons and look for tougher, vinyl ones that can enable the staff to prevent any untoward instance of cross contamination. Serving food over the counter requires the handlers to wear food safe disposable gloves as well so that no contaminant can get into the food and thence into the body of the customers.
