About Clean Cities: Mission • Established by the US Department of Energy in 1993 • Clean Cities Goals: • Decrease dependence on imported oil • Support energy, economic, and environmental security • Expand markets for AFVs and AFV refueling infrastructure • Improve local/regional air quality • Strengthen local and regional economies

  4. Clean Cities Today • Nearly 100 active • coalitions in 45 states • Over 775,000 • AFVs being used • Over 6,600 • AFV stations • 3 coalitions in NC: • - Centralina (Charlotte) • - Triangle (RTP) • - Land-of-Sky (Asheville)* • * Pending official designation

Clean Cities Electric Vehicle Portfolio • Since 1993, Clean Cities has funded more than 500 transportation projects nationwide. • Clean Cities has distributed $357 million in project awards, which have leveraged an additional $740 million in matching funds. U.S. Electric Vehicle Charging Station Inventory Clean Cities Electric Vehicle Inventory Fueling Stations Vehicles Coalitions have made great strides in deploying electric vehicles in the United States. Clean Cities efforts accounted for more than 49,000 of the electric vehicles on the road in 2009.
