  7. Types of postgraduates In Spain “posgrado” (postgraduate) are theuniversitystudiesafter “grado” (thisis, a universitycareer, 3 or 4 years). Thebestknownones are themasters. There are differenttypes: 1. OfficialMaster (Master Oficial): forsomecareers, they are compulsorytobeabletowork • 1 year (60 ECTS) or 2 years (120 ECTS), usually full time • 2 types:  • a) Official Professional Master(Master oficial profesional) • b) OfficialResearchMaster(Master oficial de investigación)> bothallowtoconduct a doctorate, butthe 2nd isspecificallyorientated in thisdirection

  8. 2. Master Erasmus Mundus: someofficialmastersco-organizedby 3 Europeanuniversities 3. Master Propio: non-officialpostgraduateofferedbyuniversitiesorotherhigheducationcenters.Theyusuallyrequire a previousuniversitydegree/ + 500 teachinghours 4. UniversityExpert/SpecialistCourse(Curso de Experto o Especialista Universitario): postgraduatecourseswithlessthan 500 teachinghours, usually 200-400 5. UniversityPostgraduate Diploma (Diploma Universitario de Postgrado): highlyspecializedpostgraduatestudies, usually no more than 200 hours

  11. language requirements • Where to learn Spanish before leaving: • KU Leuven: CLT/ILT • Instituto Cervantes (Brussels): http://bruselas.cervantes.es/es/default.shtm • Qualified official institution that will provide you with a DELE (Diploma de EspañolcomoLenguaExtranjera) • Some degrees (especially postgraduate) are taught in English (but this is not so frequent!) • In some bilingual regions (Galicia, Cataluña, País Vasco, Baleares, Valencia) you might receive lessons in the other official regional language (Galician, Catalan, Basque)
