California Standards • 8.0 Student organized and describe distribution of data by using of different methods, including frequency table, histogram, standard line and bar graphs, stem-and-leaf displays, scatter plots, and box of whisker plots. • 17.0 Students determine confidence interval for a simple random sample from a normal distribution of data and determine the sample size required for a desired margin of error. • 18.0 Student determine the P-value for a statistic for a simple random sample from a normal distribution

  3. Hypothesis We believe the population proportion is 95% of seniors will attend Grad-Nite because its their last school activity before graduation day. The other part of the seniors will NOT attend Grad-Nite because its going to end too late.

  4. Data Collection • The number of people in our group is two students • We sampled 100 Seniors from Century High School • The sample technique we used was cluster • For this survey we asked our economics classmates and first lunch seniors. The total of seniors that said “YES” was 75 and the seniors that said “NO” 25 and they 100 possible.

  5. Data • We survey 100 seniors from Century High School, and the total of the seniors that said “YES” were 75, from our survey we found out that 25 out of the 100 seniors will “NOT” attend Grad-Nite.

  6. Statistics • From our survey the sample population is 75/100 = 75.0%

  7. Confidence Interval • We are 95% confident the population proportion • -1propz-interval • (0.67878~0.82122) • We are 95% confident the mean of seniors will attend Grad-Nite are between 67.88%~82.12%

  8. Hypothesis Testing • Hypothesis • Test Statistics 1-propz-test P- value = 1.0 > =0.05 • Conclusion • At 5% level of significance we fail to reject There is enough evidence to support the claim

  9. Error Analysis • Our sample mean is 75.0 seniors, and the 95% confidence level of population proportion is between 67.88%~82.12% • Our sample error is due to possible underrepresentation. We might need to ask more senior next time. Many senior were absence , some seniors fail to be surveyed.

  10. Conclusion • We hypothesized that 95% of Century seniors will attend Grad-Nite. In our survey 75/100 of the students will attend grad nite, we find the sample mean of 75% with a standard deviation of 24.31. We conclude that the mean for all students is between 67.88%~82.12%. We test our initial hypothesis 5% level of significance., and confirm our hypothesis is correct
