Ir5Ce Photocathode

High charge & low emittance RF-Gun :

  • 3-2 RF-Gun (from Sep 2011) :

  • PF/PF-AR Injection during SuperKEKB construction phase

  • 5nC test stand for SuperKEKB

Cathode rod

  • A-1 RF-Gun (will install until Sep 2012)

  • Cavity : Higher electric focusing field=> Quasi traveling wave

  • Cathode

    • Ir5Ce at room temperature => QE :10-4

    • LaB6 or Ir5Ce with heater => QE :10-3

  • Laser : Higher power & stable laser=> Yb based chirped pulse amplification

Cavity : Disk and Washer

Quasi traveling wave side couple RF gun (100 MV/m, 6mm-mrad, 13.5 MeV)

Laser : Nd doped solid state laser

DAW-type RF gun (90 MV/m, 5 mm-mrad, 3.2 MeV)

- Nd:YVO4 + SESAM passive modelock oscillator

BNL-type RF gun (120 MV/m, 11.0 mm-mrad, 5.5 MeV)

Cathode : LaB6 => Ir5Ce

BNL (3.8 mm)

Beam Size

DAW (1.7 mm)

- Nd:YAG 5-stage amplifier

QTW (0.2 mm)

  • High charge & low emittance RF-Gun

    • Cavity with electric focusing field

      • Disk and Washer => 3-2

      • Quasi Traveling Wave => A-1

    • Long life cathode QE : 10-4

      • LaB6, Ir5Ce at room temperature

    • High power laser > mJ @ 266nm

      • Nd doped solid state laser

      • Yb doped fiber & solid state laser

  • Beam transport

    • Alignment

    • Emittance preservation

    • Beam diagnostics

Longer bunch can reduce space charge effect inside RF-Gun

and also CSR at J-ARC.

High charge low emittance is required for SuperKEKB.
