Experts estimate that more than 4.5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease. By 2030, that number is likely to approach 7.7 million as the youngest Baby Boomers celebrate their sixty-fifth birthdays. The Alzheimer's Association is leading the fight against this disease through funding for research, support for patients, caregiver services and public advocacy. In the past year, Bankers' relationship with the Association has grown, thanks largely to the generosity of policyholders and the efforts of our agents and employees. As the premier corporate sponsor of the Rita Hayworth Gala in Chicago and as a full sponsor of the Association's Ronald Reagan Institute Research Grant at Harvard, Bankers continues to provide meaningful financial support in our search for a cure.In addition to funding these Association programs, we're also proud to sponsor a homegrown fundraising event called Forget Me Not DaysSM. Each May, agents and employees around the country distribute specially marked packages of Forget-Me-Not seeds to raise public awareness and collect donations for the Alzheimer's Association. This year's event raised more than $84,000, thanks to hundreds of volunteers and Bankers' employees in more than 50 cities lending their support.

For housebound seniors, Meals on Wheels delivers more than just a hot meal. Volunteers also offer words of encouragement and a connection to the outside world. In 2003 Bankers renewed our commitment to funding the Meals on Wheels program. As the premier corporate sponsor for Meals' Celebrity Chef Brunch, Bankers donated more than $20,000 to the cause.Since 1987, Meals on Wheels has served more than 1,000,000 meals to over 100,000 recipients in Chicago alone. For more information, please visit www.mealsonwheelschicago.org.
