  1. Plainwell High School PeaceJam 2003-2004 Kalamazoo Conference March 27-28, 2004

  2. What is PeaceJam? • PeaceJam is an international education program built around leading Nobel Peace Laureates who work personally with youth to pass on the spirit, skills and wisdom they embody. The goal of PeaceJam is to inspire a new generation of peacemakers who will transform their local communities, themselves and the world. • http://www.peacejam.org/about.shtml

  3. What do PeaceJam participants actually do? • Discussion groups deal with topics of racism, sexism, violence, & intolerance. • Study the work of Nobel Peace Laureates in order to determine what it takes to be “peacemakers.” • Design and implement a community service project that allows us to take specific steps toward achieving our broader goals of improving quality of life. • Attend two annual conferences with other PeaceJam clubs and a Nobel Laureate.

  4. 2003-2004 Case Study • Nobel Laureate: Jody Williams • Focus: International Campaign to Ban Landmines • Recipient of Peace Prize: 1997 For more information: http://www.icbl.org
