  2. How work has changed • 1973- the majority of people in the 70’s never used cell phones and advanced computers for work, making work longer, tedious and more paper-oriented. • In 1973- 1976 the laser and ink-jet printer were invented beginning a much easier way to do office work with out use of heavy machinery or having to write everything out.

  3. The workplace in the 80’s • 1984- CD-ROM is invented along with the Apple Macintosh followed by windows in 1985 making the workplace more computer-oriented and changing the way people work as paperwork takes second place in most offices. • In 1988 digital cell phones are invented making it possible to do more work while away from the office.

  4. The 90’s through now • Too much happened in the 90’s for me to mention so I’ll just mention a few such as the internet, genetic engineering, pentium processor, java computer language, web TV, gas powered fuel cells, and DVD’s. As for the 2000’s, there was even more advances such as the ipod, hybrid cars, youtube, facebook, retinal implants, and advances in laptops.

  5. Daily life • In 1979 the cell phone was invented as well as the Walkman and the Cray supercomputer. With the invention of the cell phone people all over could now communicate with each other from wherever they wanted or had service. As the cell phone would advance in the years to come, people found talking face-to-face more irrelevant in both professional and personal life.

  6. Social interactions • It started with the BBS. Short for Bulletin Board System, which was an online meeting place where they could download files or games and post messages to other users. Then CompuServe and AOL came out and everyone started to chat online and it became the next “big thing”. Then Myspace and Facebook came out later and revolutionized social networking.

  7. education • In 1972, Texas Instruments releases its first hand-held calculator changing schoolwork forever. • In 1977 the Apple IIe, becmepopular in schools as students begin to learn with computer games such as Oregon Trail and Odell Lake. • Windows 1.0 is released in 1985 and changes the face of computing forever

  8. Education part II • In 1985 the graphing calculator is widely used in schools and in 1999 the interactive whiteboard is reinvented, then in 2005 the iclickerallows teachers to quiz students in real time. In 2006 the XO laptop is widely distributed to under privilaged children in an attempt to give “every child a laptop”. Then most recently is the ipad which Is now widely used in classrooms as research devices.
