  3. Guidelines for Factoring • Always factor out a GCF • If there are only 2 terms: • Look for DIFFERENCE of Squares • Look for GCF • Look for Cubes (SONG!!!!) • If there are 3 terms do the “product sum” method or Big X.

  4. Other Clues for test • When “SIMPLIFYING” there should be NO parenthesis in the answer. • When solving, set =0 and then factor. If there already are ( ) then it’s factored!! • Don’t forget Units on a rectanlge and no negatives.
