  1. UC Berkeley CS160 Spring 2014 User Interface Design Curtain Call Jimmy Bao BrentonDano Sol Han Haley Rowland VinitNayak An interactive app used to rehearse and memorize plays. Problem There is currently no efficient way for actors to practice their lines. They must resort to reading the script over and over or using voice memo apps on their phone to rehearse alone when they don’t have peers to practice with. Target User Curtain Call primarily targets actors and actresses. However, Curtain Call can also be used by anyone who needs to remember lines, such as a person who is trying to memorize a speech. Curtain Call Home Screen Users are greeted with this home screen when they launch the Curtain Call application. At this screen, users can create a play by inputting a play title. The app will then allow users to create scenes as well as recordings for the particular play. Solution Curtain Call provides users with an efficient way to memorize and rehearse their lines. It currently allows users to create plays, record lines associated with a particular scene of the play, and rehearse their lines by interacting with the recordings. Design Evolution Changes to the application were made after every testing phase to make the application’s usability as intuitive and smooth as possible. Main changes include the way the users create plays, record their lines, interact with the recorded lines, and other small user interface tweaks that were suggested. (i) Low-Fi Prototype (ii) First Interactive Prototype (iii) Final The design iterations of Curtain Call’s Rehearsal screen Final Prototype Curtain Call currently offers the features described in the “Solution” section to best provide users with a way to mimic the natural flow of a play. It aims to integrate speech-to-text recognition in future iterations to provide users with feedback while they rehearse with Curtain Call. The color palette used by Curtain Call.
