Synthetic Oil ·If time and temperature are all it takes to make oil, why can’t it be made by humans? ·It can be and is made synthetically, but mostly just for research. ·The process of creating an oil-like substance in a laboratory is called pyrolysis. ·The amount of time it takes to make oil is decreased in the lab by increasing the temperature. The only problem is, it takes more energy to create the oil than energy the oil could provide.
