  2. When and where are meetings held? How long do they last? • Meetings are held in the LGI Or Mrs. Munoz’s room (2318) at 2:30 PM on the first Friday of each month. However, additional meetings may be called. (If meeting times or the places are changed, you will be notified in advance by the officers.) • A typical meeting usually lasts approximately 30 minutes.

  3. Make-up meetings are held the following Monday morning at 6:45 AM in Mrs. Munoz’s room (2318) after regular NEHS meetings. • If you miss both regular and make –up meetings, you must bring a acceptable note explaining your absence by the end of the week. • You are only allowed one absence per semester! If I miss a meeting, what should I do?

  4. I need to turn in late dues or fundraiser money. Who do I give it to? • You can turn in fundraiser money and late dues to Mrs. Munoz in Room 2318. • Cash or a check made out to the Dawson NEHS is acceptable. • Please submit all money in an envelope labeled with your full name.

  5. How many service hours must I complete in a year? • NEHS members are required to complete 5 service hours each semester. (5 hours must be turned in during the fall semester, and 5 hours must be turned in during the spring semester.) • You will be required to complete 10 extra service hours if you want cords. YES, YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS FOR ALL CONSECUTIVE YEARS.

  6. You can document your service hours by filling out the service hours sheet found on the NEHS Forms page of our website (nehs.yolasite.com). • Print out the sheet, and be sure to bring the form to all your volunteer events. Attend a literary event (theater performance, movie based of a book, school play, etc.). • Turn in your ticket stub/program from the event + essay response reviewing the event (500 words minimum) + hour form to Mrs. Munoz.   8. Join the NEHS Homecoming Banner Committee. All committee members will communicate and discuss meeting details. Keep in mind that the banner will be due on September 26, 2013. http://nehs.yolasite.com/documents.php The sign up portal will be closed on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.   9. Volunteer for shifts/prep at the NEHS flock party booth. • Prep: bring in needed items and help setting up. • Volunteer for shifts during lunch to sell NEHS T-shirts. • Volunteer to help English teachers/librarians after school. Where can I get my service hours?

Where can I get my service hours? • Participate in NEHS Project: sending letters to troops for holidays. • Participate in the NEHS book drive (later in the year). • 5 children's books/3 young adult or appropriate adult books donated, will be equivalent to 1 NEHS hour. You will only receive 2 hours maximum.  • Help with Dawson Spelling Bee sponsored by NEHS (second semester).  • Participate in the "English and Literature Club" discussions.
