Conflicts • Radio capacity is limited vs. nodes/peers assume almost no restriction  overload • Radio links are asymmetrical  high heterogeneity of nodes/peers • Device mobility and short on-lines  high churn rate • Hierarchical architecture vs. dynamic overlays  topology might not match • Infrastructure is asset  resource management by operators needed

Solutions? • What architecture is needed? • Centralized? • Decentralized? • Hybrid? • What about self-organization? • Tuning parameter for degree of decentralization? • Multiple objectives? • How to address mobility? • Direct routing (e.g. ad hoc routing protocols) or indirect routing (e.g. MobileIP)?
