History - Ku-niu-ling 1895 - “Bull” Peak in Background “The name of the highest peak, opposite the entrance” to the saddle of land he had purchased “is Ku-niu-ling or Bull Peak, the valley…is called the Chang-ch’ung or Long Valley. I did not like any of these names so I gave the estate a new name… making it the Chinese form of the English word cooling, so that the name might describe its destined use.” ES Little, The Story of Kuling.
