Could “God” be our Collective Consciousness?

The Biblical understanding is that God is a power that is external to us, so to say, standing above us and guiding us from the outside. God as Collective Consciousness, on the other hand, suggests that God is within- as well as outside of us.   1. Could “God” be our Collective Consciousness? Could God be the Collective Consciousness of all living beings? The common Biblical understanding is that God is a power external to us, so to say, standing above us and guiding us from the outside. God as Collective Consciousness, on the other hand, suggests that God is a continuum of consciousness including us.My study shows that the understanding of God in the narrative of creation in Genesis 1-9 is consistent with God being our Collective Consciousness. We discuss these verses to consider this possibility. “1:1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth:” Comment: In the beginning the Collective Consciousness divided itself into Consciousness and Matter. I may be like precipitation of a cloud into vapor and water. “1:2Now the earth was without shape and empty:” Comment: The matter that was precipitatedwas without shape. It was something like water vapor in space. “…and darkness was over the surface of the watery deep:” Comment: The “watery deep” is often understood as H2O water, maybe like an ocean. However, Strongs translates the Hebrew word paniym<06440>as “before and behind, toward, in front of, forward, formerly, from beforetime, before…” These meanings suggest that the watery deep was a matter-without-shape. “but the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water:” Comment: The Collective Consciousness was moving intermingled with the matter-without-shape. Maybe like an airplane within the cloud or a spacecraft in ether. 1:3-5 God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light! God saw that the light was good, so God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness“night.” Comment: The interaction of Collective Consciousness andmatter-without- shapeproduced light. Ancient people rubbed two pieces of wood to produce fire. Maybe something like that happened when the airplane like Collective Consciousness rubbed in the matter-without-shape.

So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. It was so:” Comment: The matter-without-shape differentiated into dense and sparse

  3. matter—something like the vapordifferentiating into vapor in the cloud (dense) and vapor around the cloud (sparse).The Hebrew word for “expanse” is raqiya` <07549>. It is derived from the Hebrew word raqa` <07554>, which means “a primitive root; to pound the earth (as a sign of passion).” This suggests that the Collective Consciousness pounded the matter-without-shape into two distinct parts. God called the dry ground “land” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good. Comment: The sparse matterbetween the two matter-without-shapewas called sky. The dense matter-without-shape,in turn, separated into dry ground and the liquid seas. The Biblical understanding of God as described in these verses appears to be consistent with God being the Collective Consciousness. The Consciousness of every living being is connected with the consciousness every other living being. This consciousness is like a huge web with multiple interconnections. This interconnected web of consciousness collectively determines where to go and is personified as God.
