  1. Choutuppal-Kandi Road to be a National Highway and NHAI to take up the Project The 118 km distance between Choutuppal-Kandi in Telangana via NH 65 is said to become a national highway. The Telangana State Government has appealed to the Union Surface Transport Ministry to announce the National Highway status of the road connecting Choutuppal to Kandi in the Sangareddy district. The State Government also wants the project work to be taken up by the National Highways Authority of India. According to Telangana State Chief Minister, Shri Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, the proposal for declaring the Choutuppal-Kandi road as National Highway has been approved, with the National Highways Authority of India having been assigned the project responsibility. The two roads traverse via Hyderabad around the regional ring road at an average distance of 50-60 km from the city. The fast advancement of these stretches of roads will not just help smoothen the traffic throughout the city, but also help in the general development of the entire state. The Chief Minister also explained in detail about how the Nehru Outer Ring Road is being used by people to journey across the city. However, with the wide growth in population in Hyderabad, which is a leading spot for many Information Technology companies, the Ring Road is well on its verge of experiencing saturation in the next 5 years. To avoid this, it is necessary to build additional roads to streamline the traffic. The newly proposed roads will have six lanes, expandable up to eight lanes. The Government has prepared a feasibility report that states that the project would be needing a land acquisition of 4900 hectares, with an estimated cost of Rs 3000 crores. Apart from that, Rs 8000 crores have been estimated as the requirement for the construction of the 340 km long

  2. 6-lane highway project, thus amounting to a total of Rs 11000 crores. The Central government is also planning to start the 4-laning project of the Jadcherla-Mahbubnagar section of the NH 167 as soon as possible. #ChoutuppalKandiRoad #NationalHighway #NHAI #TelanganaHighways
