ALICE-Korea budget (CERN) expenditure • Total Budget : KICOS  CERN, 215,000 CHF • Common Fund : 50,000 CHF (completed) • Permanent stay @ CERN (5 persons) : 90,000 CHF + foreign aids (France, Italy, Switzerland) • Visits to CERN(19 persons) : 75,000 CHF • Budget expenditure at CERN as of Nov.1 2008 (CHF)

  5. ALICE-Korea Plans • Detector operation, commissioning & maintenance • TOF : J.S. Kim*, J.W. Seo, M.M. Kim • MUON Trigger : Y.W. Baek*, S.U. Ahn • TRD : B.S. Chang *Ph.D • Theoretical studies & data analysis preparation • Tier 2 center operation (KISTI) • Preparation of MoU : Yonsei, Pusan • Application of Konkuk to ALICE (interest : MUON, Computing)

  6. The 1st ALICE-Korea Steering Committee Meeting on Nov. 4 (chairperson: In-Kwon Yoo) • Election of the ALICE-Korea representative : – D.W. Kim(Kangnung) for 2 years • Measures related to Yonsei group that refused to keep its promise to the Korean MEST – M&O-A counting for Yonsei’s PhDs will not be assured by ALICE-Korea prior to 2011 • Requests of ALICE-Korea SC to MEST : • The CERN-Korea Coordinator has to be nominated properly (renowned Nuclear/Particle Physicist recognized by CERN and Korean Teams) • The communication between MEST/KICOS and the CERN-ALICE management regarding matters related to ALICE-Korea has to be made after consultation with ALICE-Korea representative

Minutes of the Korea-ALICE Steering Committee Meeting, Nov. 4, 2008 • S.C. members : JHKang (Yonsei U), DWKim (Kangnung Nat’l U, Spokesperson), SYKim (Sejong U), IKYoo (Pusan Nat’l U, Chair) • Agreement to By law of the Korea-ALICE Coordination • Korea-ALICE Organization • Groups : Kangnung, Sejong, Yonsei, Pusan • Representative : DWKim / Council Chair : IKYoo • Discussion on Yonsei’s Refusal to pay for M&O-A charge • Exclude Yonsei in the M&O-A until 2010 • Request of MoU Update : • Yonsei’s common fund  should be included in Construction MoU addendum • Pusan  should be included in M&O-A addendum or a new MoU addendum • M&O-A list : set up an Evaluation System (TF : SYKim) • All communications between Korea and CERN regarding ALICE should go through the ALICE-Korea representative and/or the S.C. chair • Nominate a renowned Nuclear/Particle Physicist as CERN-Korea Coordinator recognized by CERN and the Korean teams
