  4. Show Off your Triangles Each triangle represents at least 3 sentences. You have to SHOW your triangle; not just tell the reader.

  5. Show Off your Triangles Ways to SHOW OFF! *make up a scenario that is believable *use a personal experience or memory *use imagery to paint a mental picture *use comp/contrast with your imagery/description *use detailed descriptions (proper nouns/facts)

  8. Body Paragraphs • Start with your TOPIC SENTENCE • Topic Sentences have your MAIN POINT and COULD have the triangles • This sentence needs to make sense, and NOT be a run-on. • It DOES NOT need to sound like an intro. • Re-read your sentence after you write it.

Think about where your class should eat and write to explain why we should eat there. • Some believe high school graduates should take a year off before beginning college. Think about the pros and cons and write to persuade college presidents of your opinion. • Plan • Write a thesis statement. • Write the first body paragraph. • Bring _____ copies.

Assignment due Friday/Monday You have two options: • Re-write a paragraph from your “jobs” essay in which you decrease your use of the “to be” verbs and increase your use of power verbs • Choose a prompt from pg. 5 of the packet and write a body paragraph in which you decrease the use of “to be” verbs and increase power verbs.
