  2. To determine if carbon dioxide gas is present we can use limewater. Limewater will turn cloudy in the presence of carbon dioxide gas. Carbon Dioxide

  3. To test if there is hydrogen gas in a test tube, insert a burning wooden splint into the test tube. If the gas suddenly causes a squeal or pop, this indicates the presence of hydrogen gas Hydrogen gas

  4. Collect oxygen gas in a test tube. Light a wooden splint on fire and then blow out the flame so that the splint is only glowing. Insert the glowing wooden splint into the test tube. If the flame re-ignites, this indicates the presence of oxygen. Oxygen Gas
