  1. AD 70 Doctrine aka… Realized Eschatology Covenant Eschatology Transmillennialism™ Part 2

  2. AD 70 Doctrine Coming of Christ “Last Days” AD 70 AD 30 ETERNAL DAYS (Transitional Period) Destruction of Jerusalem “…out of the decay of Judaism arose the spiritual body of Christianity.” (The Spirit of Prophecy, Max King, 200)

  3. Faulty Bible Interpretation Produces Non-existent Time Period • “…whenever faulty interpretation creates a time period that doesn’t exist in the Bible, more error will follow by attributing to that period something that cannot belong to it.” (The Spirit of Prophecy, King, 81)

  4. AD 70 Doctrine Coming of Christ “Last Days” AD 70 AD 30 Overlapping of Covenants ETERNAL DAYS Destruction of Jerusalem “Christianity is a fulfillment of the prophecies, types and shadows of the law and not merely a ‘fill-in’ between Judaism and another age to come.

  5. AD 70 Doctrine Coming of Christ “Last Days” AD 70 AD 30 Overlapping of Covenants ETERNAL DAYS Destruction of Jerusalem “Abraham had two sons, and there was no gap between them. They overlapped a little, but Isaac ‘came on’ when Ishmael ‘went out.’ The son born of the spirit was given the place and inheritance of the son born of the flesh.

  6. AD 70 Doctrine Coming of Christ “Last Days” AD 70 AD 30 ETERNAL DAYS Overlapping of Covenants Destruction of Jerusalem “Hence, this simple allegory (Gal. 4:21-31) establishes the ‘Spirit of Prophecy,’ confirming prophecy’s fulfillment in the spiritual seed of Abraham through Christ (Gal. 3:16, 26-29), and beyond the fall of Jerusalem these prophecies cannot be extended.”(The Spirit of Prophecy, 239)

  7. If there is an Overlapping of the Covenants, then… • Spiritual adultery occurred from AD 30-70 with God’s approval, Rom. 7:1-6 • The cross is not the focal point in the removal of the old covenant, Col. 2:13-15 • At the cross the old covenant was wiped out, taken out of the way and nailed to the cross (2:14) • Triumph over sin occurred at the cross, not AD 70!

  8. If there is an Overlapping of the Covenants, then… • The old covenant was not done away in Christ before AD 70 as Paul said that it was, 2 Cor. 3:14 • Two priesthoods were in force at the same time (AD 30-70), Heb. 7:11-14

  9. If there is an Overlapping of the Covenants, then… • Peace was not made between Jews and Gentiles by the cross and not until AD 70, Eph. 2:13-18 (“now”) • No freedom in Christ from the law of Moses until AD 70, but see Gal. 5:1(4:21-31)

  10. Other Consequences of AD 70 Error • God’s Scheme of Redemption was NOT accomplished before and until AD 70 (Gal. 3:24-29) • Faith has come…no longer under a tutor (law of Moses), 3:25 • Are all sons of God through faith, 3:26 • There is neither Jew nor Greek, 3:28 • Heirs according to the promise,3:29 • All before AD 70!

  11. Other Consequences of AD 70 Error • AD 70 says the following things were not accomplished until AD 70: • Second coming of Christ (1 Cor. 15:23) • Resurrection of the dead (1 Cor. 15) • Judgment day of the Lord (2 Pet. 3:10) • Establishment of the new covenant

  12. Other Consequences of AD 70 Error • AD 70 says the following things were not accomplished until AD 70: • Completeness in Christ (adulthood, adoption and redemption) • Kingdom fully established • Reception of the eternal inheritance

  13. Other Consequences of AD 70 Error • TRULY… “…whenever faulty interpretation creates a time period that doesn’t exist in the Bible, more error will follow by attributing to that period something that cannot belong to it.” (King, 81)

  14. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning Redemption: • Complete forgiveness not obtainable before AD 70 … Acts 2:38-41; 22:16; Rom. 6:17-18 “When would ungodliness be turned away from Jacob, or their sins be taken away? When Christ, the deliverer, came OUT OF SION. When did Christ come out of Zion? Not at his first coming, but his second coming.” (The Spirit of Prophecy, 63)

  15. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning Redemption: • Cannot be mature or made full in Christ until AD 70 • Not according to Colossians 2:10 (1:27-28)!

  16. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning the Word of God: • None of the New Testament has relevant application to people who live after AD 70! • God does not speak to us now in the Son, Heb. 1:2 (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

  17. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning the Kingdom: • Kingdom was not fully established until AD 70 … Col. 1:13; Heb. 12:28 • Yet, no part of the kingdom was missing from AD 30-70: • King (Lk. 1:32-33; Jno. 18:37; 1 Tim. 6:15) • Territory (Mk. 16:15; Lk. 17:20-21) • Subjects (Acts 10:34-35) • Law (Jas. 1:25)

  18. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning Resurrection: • No marriage and no death after AD 70? … Luke 20:34-36 “We are now in that world ‘which is to come’....instead of being in last days we are in eternal days world without end (Eph. 3:21).” (Ibid., 81)

  19. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning Worship: • Should the Lord’s Supper be eaten? 1 Cor. 11:26 • Options: No longer proclaim his death, Or, no longer eat the supper. WHICH?? • Must stop all songs and prayers referring to the return of Jesus; those who don’t are offering false worship.

  20. Grave Consequences if Redemption not Complete until AD 70 • Errors concerning Heaven and Hell: • Heaven is now--on earth • If true, explain 1 Pet 1:3-5; Rev 20:11 • Hell is not really eternal torment • If heaven is figurative of one’s present existence on earth with God, then hell becomes only a figure, too. Mk. 9:47-48

  21. Comforting Christians Concerning Christ’s Coming1 Ths. 4:13-18 • His future return is our sure hope, 4:13 • Bodily resurrection yet to come, 4:14 • Every Christian will fully participate in the events of Christ’s return, 4:15

  22. Comforting Christians Concerning Christ’s Coming1 Ths. 4:13-18 • The Lord Himself will descend from heaven and the dead saints will be raised, 4:16 • Living Christians will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord, 4:17

  23. Comforting Christians Concerning Christ’s Coming1 Ths. 4:13-18 • In this manner, Christians will always be with the Lord, 4:17 • A comforting truth; not a cunning deception, 4:18 (2 Pet. 1:16; 3:13)

  24. The AD 70 Doctrine is False! • We have a living hope of a future, bodily, visible return of Jesus Christ, 1 Pet. 1:3-5; cf. 1 Cor. 15:19-20 • We will all stand before the Lord’s judgment seat, 2 Cor. 5:10 • Realized Eschatology is RealizedApostasy that causes souls to be lost!
