  3. Preliminary Feasibility Studies have been done for Excavation and Ground Support for Typical Lab Modules Lab Module Ramped Excavation Sequence Preliminary Geotechnical Analyses were done to support the site selection and identify preliminary requirements for excavation and ground support requirements. Detailed site investigation studies will evaluate specific conditions at proposed locations for development. 4850 Level Map CDR

  4. Geotechnical Studies at Homestake • Homestake DUSEL Geotechnical Advisory Committee • Ziggy Hladysz, SDSMT ( Chair ) • Chris Laughton, FNAL • Bill Roggenthen, SDSMT • Bill Pariseau, Univ. of Utah • Steve Glaser, U.C. Berkeley • Herb Wang, Univ. of Wisconsin • Joe Wang, LBNL

  5. Request for Proposals for Geotechnical Engineering Services • Proposal are DUE June 20, 2008 • Anticipated Start Date for Underground Work ~ Sept. 2008 • Objectives for Preliminary Design of Lab Modules at 4850 Level and 300 Level • 1) to provide a better understanding of the rock properties • to characterize the rock conditions in the areas of proposed future development • to establish parameters and recommendations for the rock excavation design work to follow in the next phase of work for DUSEL • to provide geotechnical data that can be used to evaluate potential impacts that phased construction will have on the adjacent rock. • Scope of Work to be undertaken at the 4850 Level • Core Drilling • Laboratory Tests • In-Situ Tests • Site Mapping
