  4. LSU ICONRESIDENT PROJECTS The Resident Project Program has been established to assist medical residents with their scholarly activity requirements by providing LSU ICON services to specially designed Quality Improvement Projects.

  5. LSU ICONRESIDENT PROJECTS During the first year of operation, LSU ICON Resident Projects are open to all those Internal Medicine and Family Practice residents working within a Residency Program under the direction of LSU or any of its Public Private Partners.

  7. LSU ICONRESIDENT PROJECTS LSU ICON Pilot Projects are projects which are initiated by faculty and residents within the LSU System and its Private Partners. Residents also have the opportunity to submit Pilot Project Proposals through this mechanism. Information on the LSU ICON Pilot Project Program can be found at www.lsuicon.org/pilot-projects/

  9. LSU ICON PROJECT CATALOG The Project Catalog is a listing of Quality Improvement concepts developed by LSU ICON personnel based upon the organizational themes and the clinical and operational opportunities identified within the LSU Health System and its Private Partners.

  10. LSU ICON PROJECT CATALOG The project catalog may also include Quality Improvement concepts identified by the LSU Healthcare Effectiveness Disease Management Teams, LSU ICON Disease Management Interest Groups, or the Residency Programs.

  11. RESIDENT PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE

RESIDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Topics from the Project Catalog will be presented to the Resident Advisory Committee for review and discussion as to determine which Quality Improvement Projects would best serve the Residency Programs. The Advisory Committee will make project recommendations to the LSU ICON Steering Committee.

  13. RESIDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Resident Advisory Committee will include representatives from the Residency Programs associated with the LSU Health System and its Private Partners. The Residency Advisory Committee membership is still being finalized.

  15. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTS Protocols based upon the approved Quality Improvement concepts will be designed and developed by LSU ICON personnel for multiple resident participation at various locations.

  16. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTS LSU ICON responsibilities: • Completed Protocol • Manual of Operations • IRB Approval • Facility Project Review • Site Approval and Cooperation • Pilot Process Residency Program assistance may be requested

  17. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTS Available LSU ICON Core Services include: • Medical Informatics • Database Development • Design and Analysis • Network Evaluation Support Team • Health Literacy • Community Outreach • Regulatory Approval/Compliance

  18. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTSSUBMISSION PROCESS • A listing of available projects will posted on the LSU ICON website on an annual basis coinciding with the academic year. • Resident participation requires the written approval by the Faculty Advisors and/or Resident Program Directors.

  19. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTSSUBMISSION PROCESS Residents will have specific deadlines to apply for participation in LSU ICON Developed Projects. The submission process will be completed on-line through the LSU ICON website. Documentation requirements includes: Demographic Form Resident CV CITI Training Certification Letter of Approval

  20. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTSBUDGETS There are no budgets associated with LSU ICON Developed Resident Projects. Direct and indirect cost allocations are limited to those associated with LSU ICON Core Staff support.

  21. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTSRESIDENT REQUIREMENTS • Residents will be provided a specific timeline associated with each project. Adherence to these guidelines will be strictly enforced. • Each Resident will be required to submit a quarterly report on the status of their project.

  22. ICON DEVELOPED PROJECTSAPPROVAL AND IMPLEMENTATION Once approved for participation, the Resident will receive a copy of the Project Protocol and the Manual of Operations. A series of conference calls or video conferences will be scheduled by LSU ICON and the Project’s Principal Investigator to provide training for the residents on the project operation.
