Partnerships Actions Provide better information Training IP Partnerships Promoting IP • To develop the use of the industrial property as factor for economic growth of companies, the INPI initiates numerous partnerships: • Conventions with Regions : Alsace, Aquitaine, Bretagne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Lorraine, Midi-Pyrénées, Pays de la Loire • Conventions with actors of the innovation scene: ACFCI, OSEO, Réseau Curie, Fédération des Industries Mécanique • Actions near the competitiveness poles • 40 poles are accompanied by the INPI: tools of analysis and follow-up of the practices of the companies in term of PI, technology watch services, awareness and training actions • participation to Forums on innovation funding and competitiveness • Awareness near Researchers • 100 000 laboratory books distributed to researchers, in the framework of a programme with the Ministry of Research >Grandir avec la propriété industrielle

IP Promotion Actions Provide better information Training IP Partnerships Promoting IP • INPI implements each year several actions aiming at promoting IPR near SMEs • INPI innovation trophy rewards • A Small or Medium Enterprise for their innovation policy et industrial property policy • A research center for its capacity to value its R & D thanks to industrial property • The « Entretiens de Paris », in partnership with Les Echos, HEC and the Senate: • In 2006 « IP and Value Creation : Adding value to intellectual assets of the enterprise » • In 2007 « Strategic Management of Intellectual Property » • INPI Innovation Meetings offer sectorial and forecast analysis from patent applications filed near INPI • January 2007 : automobile and environment • June 2007 : image et networks • Roving Exhibitions • INPI uses its archives in proposing exhibitions to the public, in particular on counterfeiting issues • Since 2006, INPI is partner of « Names of Innovation », exhibition that pays tribute to 34 inventors whose invention is named after them >Grandir avec la propriété industrielle

Industrial Property Pre-Diagnosis • The pre-diagnosis is conceived as an open method for introducing IP to innovative SME that do not make yet use of IP • All the industrial property tools are taken into consideration: patents, trademarks, designs, contracts, licences, documentary searches, technology purchase and sale • Objectives • Raising the company’s awareness • highlight the importance of an industrial property policy for the company • Propose course of actions Pre-diagnosis service is free of charge for the SME >Grandir avec la propriété industrielle

  20. how French SMEs perceive IPR • Pro • Enterprise is a start-up, she needs to raise funds and to use the technical guarantee and backing provided by patent • Enterprise wishes to develop a project in partnership and wants to alleviate any possible future conflict on the sharing of the rights • Enterprise gets knowledge that their competitors apply for patents and wishes to keep a technological advantage >Grandir avec la propriété industrielle
