  1. Ma-Dham, Vrindavan, Chattikara Guild for Service

  2. The Guild for Service holds the vision of Protection of Human Rights of all, especially of those who belong to the most vulnerable sections of our Society. It is the increasing violations of human rights that inspired the Guild to providea safe and secure shelter to all those women who are weak, vulnerable, abandoned and have no one to go back to. The Guild has been involved for nearly four decades in providing services to the underprivileged women all over the country. We have been trying to make a difference in the lives of numerous marginalized women across nation for last four decades, through harnessing their energies and talents, by use of innovative economic, social and legal methods of rehabilitation and empowerment.

  3. Two decades back when we dedicated ourselves to the cause of the Widows of Vrindavan, the situation was quite critical there. The Widows of Vrindavan face a life that is so abysmal and cruel that it is difficult to imagine such a state in the modern world. They are endlessly victimized by the society and exploited mentally, emotionally and physically.   It is under such circumstances that the Guild laid the foundation for a multi faceted home for these women for their holistic care which includes food, shelter, clothing, medical aid and civic amenities. Ma Dham is one of the most important action oriented and multi dimensional projects for women’s empowerment being run by the Guild for Service. Ma Dham provides a very pleasant and healthy atmosphere to the widow mothers. With beautiful lawns, livelihood facilities, care and tendering, Ma Dham is a home for the homeless. Ma Dham has a ‘Sarva Dharma Temple- SamanvaySthal’ for their spiritual pursuit.

  4. Sannidhi Vocational Training Centre: Economic independence is the key to a dignified and respectful life for all women all around the world. The Guild runs a vocational training center in support with Women’s Rehabilitation Group, New Jersey, for the widows, women and children from the neighboring villages. English Languages Classes, Computer Training, Auxiliary Nursing Training, Stitching and Tailoring Classes, Beautician Courses etc. are conducted regularly free of cost for empowering the village women and children (both boys and girls). Apart from these the widows make papad, mangodi, incense sticks, paper plates, paper bags, etc.

  5. Beautician course Physiotherapy Classes Stitching & Tailoring Classes Computer Classes Paper Bag Making

  6. Sanitary Napkin Project: The women make sanitary napkins made from old clothes donated to the Guild. These napkins are sold at very low prices in the neighboring villages to promote health and hygiene for women and girls. Human Rights Defenders (HRD): The guild has appointed competent women from each of these villages and has trained and empowered them to effectively work for the upliftment of the women and girls. These HRD women are now able to handle cases of human rights violations in their villages, enable the elderly and the widows to avail the facilities and schemes that they are entitled to, and, also encourage other women to take charge of their lives. These women are also earning regular remunerations for their efforts for the cause of human rights promotion and protection.

  7. Guild for last four decades has been organizing Group Marriage Ceremony twice every year, Widows re-marriage is also a major part of it. We try to get the young widows at Ma-Dham not only empowered but also try to give them an opportunity to live healthy, happy married life. “Ganga was born in Kolkata in a very poor family and was married at the tender age of 12, widowed after 25 years of marriage. She was left alone after the death of her husband and suffered a major heat attack, leaving her partially paralytic. She spent a few years begging in Vrindavan and was finally rescued by Counselors at Ma-Dham. She was then empowered and was re-married. Today , she is rehabilitated and is leading a happy married life. Over the years, the Guild for Service has tirelessly worked for the cause of such widows of Vrindavan which has been possible only through the contributions and support of our well wishers.

  8. We thus humbly request you to kindly support us through your donations and sponsors, and, join us in our endeavour to promote and protect the Human Rights of the Widows, Women and Girls.
