  1. FIRST / HIFI / Consortium Meeting Utrecht 19, 20 April 2004by Piotr Orleanski / SRC PASpage 1 from 4 • Vibration (sinus and random) test passed end of 2003, • Functional and EMC (partially) tests passed, • HLCU QM delivered to Bonn and accepted, preliminary connected to the chain, • Last month two modifications have been done: the new configuration of the biases has been implemented and the time constant of the HK input filter was decreased to 25 s, • TV tests in progress, shocks planned next week in Berlin, the rest of EMC tests will be done after the delivery of LO DM to SRON. FHLCU QM status of work:

  2. FIRST / HIFI / Consortium Meeting Utrecht 19, 20 April 2004by Piotr Orleanski / SRC PASpage 2 from 4 Performance Test in Max.Temp. Warm Start Performance Test in Min.Temp. We are here Cold Start T - Functional Tests to be done twice in each cycle

  3. FIRST / HIFI / Consortium Meeting Utrecht 19, 20 April 2004by Piotr Orleanski / SRC PASpage 3 from 4 FHLCU FM status of work: • FHLCU hardware is frozen, the manufacturing of FHLCU FM and FS has been already started. • Three types of PCB (10 pieces in total) has been ordered and paid in Systronic/France, the delivery is expected within next two weeks. • The files with the next 6 types of PCB (18 pieces) are ready for delivery to Systronic. • The layouts for the last three types of PCB (9 pieces) are almost ready for delivery (the last verification should be done for HK and Digital boards, one DCDC converter should be slightly modified in order to adopt the new thermal straps for transformers). • Manufacturing of the mechanical details was stopped due to the FHLCU IMD II production. • FHLCU IMD II model is almost assembled(except DCDC). This model will be used by MPIfR for the future works with LOA FM chains and, what will be extremely important, for verification of the new software before implementing it into FHLCU FM. • The development of the next generation software has been already started. We assume that the basic, low level procedures to be used for controlling HLCU itself are almost ready and checked. Now SRC and MPIfR teams focus on “LO safety operations”aspects. The job should be done at LO level and should include all LO units.

  4. FIRST / HIFI / Consortium Meeting Utrecht 19, 20 April 2004by Piotr Orleanski / SRC PASpage 4 from 4 • Open points, criticalities: • Two aspects concerning the software: • The implementation of the new generation of the software seems to be the most important job to be done in 2004. The software has to include all aspects of the protection of the microwave diodes in LOA. The first „default”, „green”and „red” tables are implemented. The concept will be verified on FHLCU QM or IMD II models and then applied for FM. The very late delivery of FHLSU DM seems to be the most serious problem concerning the final FHLCU FM software verification and implementation. • Software review to be done by Captec - we are openfor discusion and we will try to implement the future suggestions. Time is a problem - at the moment SRC and MPI teams are busy due to the implementation of „LO safety operations”procedures. • The problem of the SEU and wrong programming of the multiplier biases: • The actual hardware design was agreed a few years ago, since now nobody complained the method of hardware protection. SRC is open for discussion and recovery actions (if needed) however it seems to be too late to modify the hardware. • In order to finish FM campaign SRC needs about 100 kEUR. We asked for this money in Scientific Council of Poland two years ago without succes. Now the problem seems to be very serious.
