Multimedia Technologies in Schools Today • It means combining multiple media – text, data, voice, picture, and video- in a single application or technology. • Multimedia in education occurs when multiple media support teaching and learning in classrooms: • Using computer presentations that combine words, pictures, and sounds; viewing materials from websites, CD-ROMs, or TV programs Etc..

  3. Multimodal learning happens when teachers combine spoken words with visuals or written text with audio or utilize simulations and models. • Multimodal learning through media found : Students are more engaged in learning that incorporates multimodal designs with single modes”

Comparing Minimal and Multimedia Classroom Technologies • To help understand the potential of multimedia technologies begins by examining their impact on teaching and learning in a classroom. • Minimal is how schools look technologically before the computer revolution, the technologies were functional but very limited in the amount of multimedia content they can deliver. • Multimedia is how schools look today with all different types of technologies throughout the classroom.

PowerPoint and Next Generation Presentations tools • PowerPoint is an multimedia presentation software package which is a standard feature on many of today's computers. • Millions on copies are in circulation, and the tool is widely used in schools. • It computerizes presentations that were previously done with transparencies on a overhead projector or slide in slide projector. • Digital projectors and documents cameras are technology tools that expand how PowerPoint can be uses as a student-engaging form of information presentation.

  6. Technology Tools A digital projector projects images from a computer to a large screen or other external viewing surface. Document camera captures whatever is under the lens and , when connected to a digital projector or a television set, projects that image onto a large screen or whiteboard
