  5. Body paragraph My first wish would be to have a personal chef do all of my cooking for me. I feel stressed out trying to make healthy meals each night. So many of the dinners I make are missing important food groups, usually vegetables. My family needs to get the vitamins and minerals necessary to live a productive life and my cooking isn’t doing that! My food is also lacking in variety. We generally eat the same meals over and over or rely on stand bys like spaghetti and pizza. A chef could whip up so many different meals without repetition. We’d also get to eat those dishes that take too long to prepare after work including lasagna and enchiladas. A final reason for employing a personal chef is I have other things I’d like to do after work rather than get stuck in the kitchen.I try to exercise most days and it is hard to run right after a big meal. I usually eat after my activities, but that puts dinner way too late. I also wish Ryder and I could run errands, go to the park, or just hang out and dinner would be waiting for us when we got done. A chef would definitely help my family enjoy a variety of healthy meals without me trading away my life to prepare them.

  7. Writing the introduction • Your first paragraph introduces your topic and tells the reader what your essay is about. Here are some ideas for your introduction: • tell why wishes are important • write an anecdote, or a story, about a time you made a wish • create a scenario where you get a chance to make wishes • The last sentence of your introduction will be your thesis. The thesis for this essay will tell the reader what your three wishes are.

  8. Delicious smells filled the air. It was Thanksgiving, just a month after Halloween. The table was lavishly covered with plates of mouth-watering food with a golden brown turkey in the middle. When my family and I sat down at the table, we began to feast. Shortly after the meal, my grandfather pulled out a wishbone. My brother and I took ends and yanked with a loud SNAP! When I saw I held the larger piece, I made a wish. Of course I already had a wish list to choose from. It’s important to have wishes because they give you hope and fulfill your dreams.

  9. A wish is a desire or ambition. You may wish on a shooting star or toss a coin into a wishing well. Sometimes wishes are a fun diversion. For example, “I wish I were a superhero.” Other times more serious wishes can give us hope and inspire us to follow our dreams. Wishes can also motivate us to change our world. My three wishes are to end global warming, purchase a new minivan for my mom, and to have superpowers.

  10. Wishes are important; they can come true. Once, when I was camping, I noticed three shooting stars passing overhead in the late night sky. To my amazement, the stars fell just in front of me. Blinded from the gleaming light, I excitedly picked up all three stars. Underneath one of the stars was a note. The note read, “You have caught three stars and each star will grant you one wish. For every wish made, the star will fade away.” It was just then that I knew exactly what to wish for.

  11. Writing the conclusion • The conclusion should give a finished feel to the essay • It should restate the thesis in a different way • It can make a final statement about wishes • It should relate back to the introduction • It only needs to be about 3-5 sentences
