  1. Class Rep Training 2012 - 2013 Our Mission Statement: “TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT THAT INSPIRES A PASSION FOR STUDENT SUCCESS”

  3. What is a class rep? The Class Representatives are the link between their classroom and the Students’ Association. They are asked to voice the opinions of the classroom to the SA, and as well to inform the students of the SA’s on-going activities and updates. They also serve as a link between the class and faculty.

  4. Class Rep :Responsibilities Communicate with peers and ensure that you understand concerns, issues, suggestions and recommendations Make sure that your peers are properly represented and informed

  5. Class Rep :Responsibilities You are the liaison between the students and the SA You are asked to represent your class at Program Councils and at the Student Forums

  6. Student Rep:Benefits Excellent leadership opportunity noted on the new co-curricular record (Coming in January 2013) You get the opportunity to voice opinions, concerns, and ideas of your peers.

  7. Student Rep:Benefits Receive first hand information from the program leaders and SA Receive a leadership certificate that recognizing your contributions and leadership skills.

  8. Where do students take complaints that are faculty related? Step One: Student-Professor Inform the student that they should try to resolve the conflict with the professor in question directly. Step Two: Chair If taking complaint to the professor did not resolve any of the issues, the program chair can attempt to facilitate resolution with mediation between both parties. Step Three: Appeal to Dean Step Four: Make appointment with Ombudsman

  9. Student Forums The SA will host Forums throughout the year A forum is held for many reasons: • One of which is to gather the opinions, concerns, and ideas from Class Reps. • Another is to get feedback from the Reps regarding college policies, changes to college environment, fees, etc.

  10. Program Council Program councils will be called by the Academic Chair. They provide a meeting where class reps, faculty and the academic manager of a specific program can discuss topics related to the program There should be a minimum of one(1) meeting per term
