  5. 科学家们获得了一个很好的科研平台 • For scientists from CAS, get a nice research platform. • 保护区提高了工作效率和技能,特别是在动物保护、疾病预防、改善生态环境等方面。 • For QLNNR, the result of research could be used to improve the work for protecting wildlife, preventing disease of wild bird and animal and improving the ecological enviroment. Scientists can train staff of PLNNR, improve their professional competence.

Simply speaking, using information technology to improve and change the way scientists carry out research collaboration and activities, and make the progress of scientific research more efficient and more productive • Qinghai Lake Joint Research Base provide a testbed for CNIC to explore e-Science with QLNNR and other institutes from CAS

  8. 二、目标 Goal • 建设易用的、满足科研活动需要的、针对野生鸟类的视频监控网络 To construct a network video monitoring system for wild bird watching, and the system must be able to support the bird researching. It must be helpful, suitable and for scientist’s convenience.

  9. 视频监控网络功能包括: 视频采集、存储、处理与共享; 支持在线浏览和远程监控。 The system’s features: • Video collecting automatically • Video collection preserving • Video collection sharing • Video viewing online

  10. 基于视频,开展鸟类及相关学科的研究 Arrange projects about bird-related research based on the video collection and the monitoring system.

  11. 三、自然环境 Nature Environment • 青海湖位于青藏高原的东北部,环湖众多河流和泉水形成了大面积高原湿地,是鸟类生息繁衍的天堂。 • Qinghai Lake is located in the northeastern of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and surrounded by a great number of rivers and springs. Therefore, it come into being a large area high altitude wetlands and become a habitat of many birds.

  14. 设置摄像机 set up cameras • 蛋岛部署6个点 six cameras on Egg Island • 三块石部署4个点 four … Three Stone Is. • 海心山部署3个点 three … Haixinshan Is. • 救护中心部署2个点 two … Rescue Center • 鸬鹚岛部署2个点 two … Cormorant Is. • 布哈河口部署1个点 one … estuary of Buha River

  27. 通过研究我们发现: ―视频监测技术改变了传统鸟类行为的研究the changing of research into birds behavior by video monitoring technique

  28. 可进行24小时不间断观察; • observing birds on 24 hours everyday • 对鸟类行为可进行多次重复观测; • repeatedly observing birds behavior • 减少人为观察的随意性; • By this technique observing birds are less randomicity than by human observing birds. • 由于信息技术的介入,达到三个效果: • This information technique brings us with : • 1.对传统研究进行验证 • validate the traditional research technique • 2.对传统研究的颠覆 • upset the conclusion by traditional reserch • 3.突破传统研究的新发现 • Break through the traditional research technique

  29. 同时也存在如下问题:the problem of the technique • 镜头转换的随机性(主要问题); • The uncertainty of switch camera lens(major problem) • 观察记录人员手动记录的不确定性; • Manual take notes is lack of veracity

  30. 七、后续工作 Future Work • 完善视频监控系统软硬件环境 Make the system more suitable, include hardware and software • 完善视频数据库 Supply more data for the database • 开展基于在线视频和数据库的科研活动 Support more research activities

  31. 一点感想: thoughts and feelings: 青海湖项目使我们感受到了科研方 式的巨大变化― IT人员出野外,动物学家在电脑上搞研究 Through this program ,we are aware of the magnitude changing on the mode and method of scientific research ― The information technologists work in the field ,while the zoologists study by computer in the door.
