  2. Linkedin is a networking and referencing tool. • Your online identity is always part of your application package. • Every new person who meets you will search you to learn more and confirm who you are.  Is your messaging what you want it to be?

  3. Keys to a successful Linkedin profile: • 100% completion • A “professional” headshot • Creating a “best of” version of your CV • Growing your network • Crafting a solid “summary” • Connecting to professional groups • Keeping your site updated for key audiences

  4. Having a good photo is essential.Which photo do you think is best for Linkedin?

  5. Your LinkedIn site is not your CV. • Highlight: jobs, schools, years and major projects and accomplishments • Include “human” facts - languages, major hobbies • Try to create a niche or persona

  6. Think holistically about your professional identity for your “summary.” • How would you characterize your work? • What makes you unique? • What would stand out in a search?

  7. Some examples: • Me! • Jon • Phil • Francisco

  8. Stay active and be aware of your other online presence.

  9. Use Linkedin as a tool in your job search. • Use your network to get “insiders” at prospective companies • Ask for informational interviews • Make the job search personal
