Thisstudy • Limited study focusing on teacher perception of Edmodo use in terms of professional development in EFL context. • aimed to obtain in-depth data on the use of Edmodo for professional development. • The study intended to gather data related to the following research question: 1. What are the perceptions of EFL teachers on Edmodo use in language classrooms in terms of professional development?

Method • This study was constructed in a qualitative research design to serve the purpose of the research question. • Phenomenological research method was applied. • experiences of the participants • focuses on making sense of the experiences of individuals about a phenomenon • how to describe the essence of individual experiences • first-hand in-depth knowledge about the subject

Participants • primary people who experience the phenomenon that the research focuses on and those who can reflect these experiences • Two criteria were determined • at least ten years of work experience as an EFL teacher • the participant should have used Edmodo for at least 5 academic years 5 volunteer EFL teachers from a state university The teachers' years of experience ranged from 10 to 21. Had been using Edmodo in their language classes for 5 years.

  7. Data Collection • 30-45 minute interviews were conducted with 5 language teachers. • Semi-structured interviews were carried out. Open-ended questions were directed to the participants. • Recorded interviews were transcribed for text analysis, and then important statements, which were believed to define the phenomenon, were identified. • These expressions were grouped together to create meaningful units (codes).

  8. Findings The content analysis of the interview responses revealed the teacher participants’ positive opinions about the use of Edmodo in EFL context in terms of their professional development.

  10. Conclusion This study revealed that educational networking sites promote professional development in many ways by creating online learning spaces where teachers from all around the world connect, help and support each other.
